Blended Learning Technician

Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Learning and Development department delivers L&D solutions to equip our officers and staff with the required levels of knowledge and learning throughout their careers to keep the communities of Gloucestershire safe from harm.  Situated at The Sabrina Centre in Berkeley, we deliver world class training in our state of the art facility, to our existing workforce and those joining us for the first time.

Our ambition for Learning and Development is to develop a range of digital learning opportunities to support an environment where learning is accessed in a variety of formats. By developing diverse and accessible methods of learning it will improve our efficiency, offer better service to our customers, support agile ways of working, be more inclusive and encourage individuals to take personal responsibility for their learning.

The Blended Learning Technician provides practical support in the creation of content that supports our blended learning design. The Blended Learning Technician role works as an integral part of the L&D team to design and develop content to support our training courses and organizational development activities. Contributing to best practices in instructional design and the use of educational technologies, such as videos and online materials to create an effective learning environment.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with subject-matter experts (both L&D and Internal stakeholders) to create online tools and materials.
  • Demonstrate, share and provide advice on best practice in blended learning design.
  • Support the design of blended learning courses, using creative, innovative and evidence-based approaches.
  • Design and develop videos and animations as part of the learning library.
  • Research suitable tools (Teams, Webex) to support the development of L&D trainers in leading virtual Instructor-led training sessions.
  • Be involved in assessing the technology we are using to deliver blended learning and make recommendations on suitable tools to ensure that we have the right functionality and are not spending money on multiple versions of tools that effectively do the same job.

Position Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Level 3 Qualification in Digital Instructional Design, Training and Education or other related fields
  • Experience designing a variety of blended learning tools ie videos, in-class assessment, online learning tools.

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in blended learning tools design.
  • Experience in e-learning design and development, multimedia production, graphic design, LMS administration, webinar production.
  • Knowledge of the principles of learning including adult learning, experiential learning, participatory methods, instructional design.
  • Strong planning, organization, critical and strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Software Fluency

  • Adobe Captivate
  • Adobe Connect, Cisco WebEx and/or Zoom

This is a full-time position based at the Sabrina Centre in Berkeley although opportunities to work in an agile way will be encouraged.
