Do you have the passion and desire to keep people safe from harm? Are you looking for a role that will help support the communities of Gloucestershire by adding value to the service we provide to the public?

Would you like to be part of a team that delivers the best possible local policing it can and puts the public at the heart of everything it does?

The role of a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) provides this opportunity by supporting our police colleagues in a multi-agency and partnership approach across the county of Gloucestershire.

This is a unique role and one that will require you to take personal responsibility for your area. As part of this role you will assist regular police officers in providing a visible uniformed presence. You will work within a targeted area to maintain law and order and have responsibility for deterring incidents such as antisocial behaviour and other environmental matters that affect the quality of people’s lives.

As with all roles within policing, you will need to act with integrity, impartiality and professionalism. You will encourage the public to engage with you and take pride in presenting a positive image of the Constabulary. You must be comfortable and confident in working on your own as well as part of a team.

We want our Constabulary to be representative of the area we work in, so welcome applicants from all under-represented groups, in particular those from black and ethnic minority communities. We need people from diverse backgrounds with skills and experiences to help us deliver excellence in local policing throughout Gloucestershire.

If you think that you have the right skills and abilities, together with the drive and determination to make a positive difference we would welcome an application from you.

The starting salary for PCSO's is £23,100 plus a 26.5% shift allowance which then takes the total salary up to £29,221.50.

We are very fortunate in that the role of PCSO is extremely popular, therefore we will be opening for a 3 week period only from 12pm Friday 18th November - 12pm Monday 12th December 2022. It is therefore advisable to fully submit your application early and by 12pm on 12th December to avoid any disappointment.

Please refer to the Role Profile document when completing the Statement in support of your application section of the form. In this section, you are required to provide evidence with specific examples for each of the seven Essential criteria included under the Experience and Qualifications section of the Role Profile. For each of the seven criteria, please write a paragraph detailing how your experience, qualifications, skills and abilities meet the minimum criteria for the role. You may also wish to do the same for the four Desirable criteria, however this is not a mandatory requirement. Applicants who do not provide this required evidence will unfortunately not be invited to interview.

Should you encounter any problems with your application within the recruitment window, please email Recruitment@gloucestershire.police.uk. This email address will be monitored throughout the recruitment window and you will receive a response to any queries within three working days.
